Did someone say 'vegan collagen'?! Well, not exactly - it’s not collagen. It’s Vollagen® - a vegan alternative to collagen!
Vollagen is an amino acid complex that provides the building blocks for all human collagen types. It contains the same proportions of amino acids as found in collagen, but with absolutely no animal ingredients or animal testing.
Collagen is an important building block within the body, providing structural proteins for skin, hair, nails, ligaments, tendons, muscles, cartilage and connective tissues. As we age, collagen production slows down, typically dropping to 50% of previous levels by the age of 50. Smoking, stress, alcohol, sugar and long term inflammation also contribute to collagen decline. Reduced collagen levels result in a loss of skin firmness and tone, leading to wrinkles. The skin barrier can also be compromised, causing skin dryness, breakouts and blemishes. Internally, low levels of collagen might be linked with joint pain, stiffness, digestive disturbances, intestinal permeability and organ prolapse.
Unlike collagen supplements which are derived from animal sources, Vollagen is a 100% plant origin vegan collagen alternative. It is produced using a multistep fermentation and microencapsulation process with a starting material of non-GMO corn starch. The advantages of this are:

Independent consumer research was carried out with 55 female participants aged 30 to 60. After 60 days of use at 1000mg per day, subjects variously reported that:
- Skin felt softer, smoother, firmer and more supple.
- Skin looked healthier and brighter with more even skin tone.
- Fine lines and wrinkles appeared reduced.
- The appearance of dark circles under the eyes was reduced.
- Fewer breakouts were noticed.
- Nails felt stronger and looked healthier.
Tiny Pioneer Vollagen Powder is suitable for vegetarians and vegans and is not tested on animals. It contains no fillers, binders, excipients, flow agents, or common allergens.
Directions Take 3g (approximately 5ml or one standard teaspoon) once or twice a day, or as directed by a practitioner. Take in water or other cool liquid. Please note that Vollagen powder might go clumpy and hard if it is exposed to moisture or left unsealed. Please seal the pouch properly when not in use and store in a cool, dry place. Do not put a damp spoon into the pouch. We include a silica bag to absorb moisture and keep the powder fresh. Ingredients Vollagen, comprising: 99 – 99.5% amino acids (glycine, proline, hydroxyproline, glutamic acid, alanine, arginine, aspartic acid, lysine, serine, leucine, valine, phenylalanine, threonine, isoleucine, histidine, tyrosine, methionine, hydroxylysine); 0.5 – 1% sunflower lecithin. Tiny says: I love this product! I’d say it took a full month for me to notice any change at all and two full months to be sure, but the wrinkles on my forehead definitely improved! One almost disappeared! I was sad when my sample ran out and I had to wait for our first official batch to arrive in order to resume use. Vollagen is definitely going to be a part of my supplement regime for the foreseeable future! I am highly intolerant to corn, but seemed able to tolerate this product without issue. This is probably because while Vollagen is derived from corn, there are no corn proteins present in the finished product. I would advise anyone with a true corn allergy to avoid Tiny Pioneer Vollagen, but those with corn intolerances should make their own judgement. I’m also intolerant to sunflower, but there is so little sunflower lecithin in this product that I decided to use it anyway and again, there is not much protein in lecithin. The product did not irritate my bladder at all. Because of collagen’s role as a building block of connective tissue, I am especially interested to hear how those of you with interstitial cystitis, overactive bladder, leaky gut and inflammatory bowel conditions get on with this product. If you notice improvements in your joints or skin, so much the better! |
